Angel of loving remorsePeter (Opus Angelorum)
Donato Creti: The penitent Saint Peter, oil on canvas. Public domain.

“Tears of repentance are the key to My Heart” says the Lord. Let us remember this often! The angel of this day carries the tears of repentance in a precious alabaster vessel, which shine through marvellously—in a subdued light as if made of pure opal—in the love of God.

Saint Bathuel,

from the choir section of the Sealed Dominions, is the angel of loving remorse. The Dominions receive the great stream of love that sprays down over the Seraphim. They carry the love of God out into the whole of creation. In the centre of this great choir are the sealed angels, who bear the greatest burden of love, for in them love becomes justice again.

These sealed ones are angels of the End Times, that is, they will have their greatest power and actual task in the End Times. Seven go out to seal the churches of God before the horrors of the End Times. Another seven go out to pour out the bowls of God’s wrath upon the earth. Three go out to call for judgement and three go out to bring in the harvest. In the midst of these sealed ones stands Saint Bathuel. He is one of the three who will call us to judgement, the one who has to proclaim the message of salvation to the nations again and again… under the crash of a bursting world already at its end; the one who will cry out with a loud voice:

“Fear God and praise Him, for the hour of His judgement has come! Worship Him who created heaven and earth, sea and springs of water!” (Apoc. 14:7).

He is the angel of loving remorse, full of mighty power and clarity. Through this power of love, like a friend, brother and guardian angel, he helps the Bride of Christ on earth to understand, to be faithful to love and to be willing to atone. He is the kind, priestly angel whose helping and healing rays of grace flow down to Saint Jophiel, the Ploughman. And in a very loving and caring act of the Heavenly Mother, She has placed loving remorse—through these two angels—in the centre of Her Spheres of Power, where depth and inwardness and the longing for God is built in… for the heart is also in the centre.

Through Saint Bathuel, the soul receives loving remorse, the key to the Heart of God. And isn’t that where we want to go? Isn’t the Heart of the Lord our goal? So we also know the way. It is not given to everyone to remain a reflecting vessel of God in pure innocence; most people have to become acquainted with depths and shallows and with all the pitfalls of the world on their earthly journey. That is why Saint Bathuel is also an angel of judgement. His judgement is justice. Through Saint Bathuel, the Lord grants remorseful love, and thus, forgiveness, to those who voluntarily submit to God’s justice. Through Saint Bathuel, we never lose sight of our duty to make amends for what we are guilty of. Indeed, we will intercede even more before the Lord for the faults of our fellow men, and thereby be caught up more and more into the love of God.

Prayer: Lord, how close loving remorse is to Your Heart! He who is forgiven more, loves more. O do not count me among the Pharisees, for whom nothing needs to be forgiven, but let me rather be a publican… despised by others, but full of repentance… so that I can weep over my sins out of love for You and thus become a partaker of Your Love. Amen.
