God has appointed twelve angels, who, as angels of love, walk over all creation, from the beginning to the end of time, carrying God in His attributes and laws and His thoughts about creation, to the last blade of grass and to the smallest creature.

He who stands before God’s Throne today is the sixth of these twelve Angels of Word and Answer:

Saint Geburah,

who carries the justice of God into the structure of all creation.

He is a wonderful angel; those who fear God do not need to fear him. Those who truly love God can also love this angel. In his hand, opened towards us, lies a key: love. Those who truly love much in the eyes of God will be forgiven much, because love covers a multitude of sins. God’s justice is as great as His love, because everything about Him is in divine proportion. Of course, we will neither fully exhaust His love nor comprehend His justice, but His love for us will never be without justice and His justice will never be without love.

Only those who mock and ridicule God, who disregard and overlook Him, need to fear His justice. One day they will not be able to overlook his justice. Then the angel of justice, who will give us the key of love, will seem to them like a giant who encompasses the world, whom no-one may evade and from whom nothing escapes, and whose sword eludes no-one.

We should not be frightened by Saint Geburah, though. We ought to voluntarily surrender to the judgment of God in time, so that the justice of God may hand us over to the love of God. The greatness of this angel, however frightening he may appear to others, should only be an incentive for us to let our love grow more and more, so that one day it may have the same greatness as Saint Geburah.

Prayer: Mary, our Mother, Queen of all Angels, you are the Mother of Beautiful Love and the Mother of Mercy. You have everything in the measure pleasing to God and so you are also the Mirror of Justice.

Teach us to love the justice of God. Teach us to take the hand of this Angel of Justice and hold us in judgment, so that we may be caught by the love of God and saved forever! Amen.
