“Light of the Gospel” | |
He is one of the seven from the Choir of the High Dominions, who carry the gifts of the Holy Ghost in seven golden bowls that shine like the sun. Saint Jonael is in the middle with the spiritual gift of the Word of God: the Light of the Good News of the Gospel as the only valid science.1 He raises this light so high that no one who has had baptismal water trickle down his forehead can say before the court that he has never heard of the Word of God or that he has never seen this light.
From this angel, we want to learn to always really see the Word of God as light and to uphold it. Today the priest prays in the Introit: “… the night had reached the middle of its path when Thine Almighty Word, O Lord, came down from His royal Throne in Heaven.” All of the Word came from the Lord and all are redeemed and sanctified through His Word. Our mind works in the Word and thus expresses what we have recognised. The Word is the foundation of science, and its prime flower is Scripture. Saint Jonael gives us the watchword:
Watch your word; it can get you to heaven or hell!
- Saint Jonael bears the Gift of the Holy Ghost that we call knowledge or science. ↩︎
